Is Revolut and Nubank’s Expansion Into The MENA Region Set For Success?

Is Revolut and Nubank’s Expansion Into The MENA Region Set For Success?
Is Revolut and Nubank’s expansion into the MENA region set for success?

Hey FinTech Fanatic!

Just recently, I shared news about Revolut’s ambitious plans to expand into the Middle East, backed by license applications and fresh investment from Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investor Mubadala. You can check it out here: Revolut Expansion News.

Not long after, Nubank followed suit, announcing their own interest in entering the MENA region. Here’s the full scoop: Nubank Expansion News.

But why are two of the most successful neobanks turning their attention to this region?

One reason could be the expatriate-heavy population in some Middle Eastern countries, which drives high remittance activity—a factor that aligns well with the digital-first banking models of Nubank and Revolut.

Moreover, a significant part of the population remains unbanked or underbanked, offering a massive untapped market for financial inclusion.

Now, over to you—what’s your take? Will these moves pay off for Revolut and Nubank? Let me know in my poll:

Is Revolut and Nubank's expansion into the MENA region set for success?

I'll share the results of the poll next week!

Cheers,

Marcel
